Dr. Jeannette Fresne specializes in early childhood and elementary music pedagogy, seven-shape shape-note gospel music, and integrating performing arts into the learning process.
Before joining 91制片厂, Dr. Fresne taught at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of South Alabama, where she served as Graduate Coordinator of Music and Director of Arts in Education. She holds advanced degrees in music education, earning her doctorate from Arizona State University, the Master of Music from Texas State University, and a Bachelor of Music from The University of Texas at Austin.
As Director of Arts in Education (and PI), she secured approximately $2.5 million in federal, state and private grants between 2004 and 2018. These long-term, immersive programs provided educators with hands-on training, 35–48 hours of professional development, in-class mentoring, and innovative teaching kits featuring puppets, instruments, books, and recordings. The Arts in Education programs enhanced engagement and content retention through arts integration.
Additional teaching experience spans undergraduate and graduate courses at Arizona State University, Texas State University, and Seminario Bíblico Bautista in San Antonio, as well as early childhood and elementary music, high school choir, and several international guest lectures in China. She has held leadership roles in curriculum development, faculty governance, and organizational boards.
In addition to her peer-reviewed publications in arts integration and music education, Dr. Fresne co-published numerous gospel hymns with Thurman Coffey, a distinguished gospel hymn writer. Her work reflects her dedication to combining research, teaching, and community engagement to advance student-centered learning.
