Support group offered for LU students with autism
Autism College Connect is a new group dedicated to providing support and building relationships that help LU students with autism overcome obstacles in college life.
The group will meet from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. each Wednesday and Thursday over a 10-week period. Students can choose to attend on either day depending on their schedule. Meetings begin Sept. 20 and 21 in Room 171 of the Speech and Hearing Building.
Topics to be covered include advocacy and seeking support, time and stress management, hidden rules in the classroom, navigating campus environments, and taking care of your health. After each topic is introduced, students will be provided opportunity to follow up and exchange ideas.
Interested students should contact Beth Byers, at 880-7601, or babergeron@lamar.edu.
