Teresa Simpson appointed to TACUSPA Board position
Teresa Simpson, Ed. D. has been elected to the Texas Association of College & University Student Personnel Administrators as director of research for the 2019-2021 term.
In her new position, Simpson will serve as the Editor in Chief of the peer reviewed TACUSPA Journal, coordinate the undergraduate and graduate research grant program and coordinate the case study competition for both undergraduate and graduate students in the area of student affairs, enrollment management and academic affairs focused on student success.
“I am honored and look forward to working with my peers in the field of student affairs and academic affairs coming together for student success,” said Simpson. “I look forward to supporting this modern collaboration across our association and the state of Texas, working with stakeholders and incoming professionals in our field to bridge the gaps that provide unique opportunities for students to develop and be successful.
Simpson currently works in the College of Education and Human Development as the Special Assistant to the Dean for Student Recruitment, Retention, and Success, as well as in the Office of the Vice Provost as coordinator for Online Student Retention and Success.
Simpson received her Bachelor of Science as a double major in history and literature and completed her secondary education teacher’s certification from the University of Houston -- Clear Lake. In 2010 she graduated with her Masters of Educational Leadership from 91ÖÆƬ³§. Simpson began her career in higher education when she was appointed by the President of 91ÖÆƬ³§, Jimmy Simmons, to serve as the Institutional Representative in 2013. In 2014 Simpson received her Doctorate of Educational Leadership from 91ÖÆƬ³§.
In her time at Lamar, Simpson has distinguished herself as an outstanding faculty member, managing a variety of positions across the university. These include overseeing multicultural programming, freshmen leadership programming and advisor to the Student Government Association. In 2013 she received the prestigious Julie and Ben Rogers Service Award, 91ÖÆƬ³§’s highest honor to a faculty or staff member in support of their service to 91ÖÆƬ³§ and its community. Since 2015 she has served as President of the LU chapter of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
