Business student completes internship with Big Four Firm PwC

Taliah Belcher, a senior accounting and finance double major in the College of Business, recently completed a six-week internship with PricewaterhouseCoopers office in Dallas. The virtual internship, known as the ‘Start Internship’, is centered around mentorship, gaining insight into PwC as a company, and learning about the many different career opportunities offered by the company.

In her day-to-day tasks, Taliah participated in virtual shadowing sessions with PwC professionals, webinars about various topics i.e. diversity and inclusion, PwC culture, initiative set forth by the company, and opportunities to connect and network one-on-one with professionals in the industry.

Taliah also had the opportunity to work on a group project called “Skills for Society” during the internship. For this project, the group was tasked with creating a presentation on how a current client of PwC could improve their marketing and promotional efforts to maximize donations. Various software, including Excel, Alteryx, and Tableau, combined with the data analytics, were utilized to complete the presentation.

Taliah said that the skills gained through the project are invaluable to her future career. She was able to learn about software of the industry, as well as refine her ability to clean up and analyze data.  "I am so grateful that I was able to be a part of such an enriching and inclusive culture at PricewaterhouseCoopers,” Belcher said. “During my time at PwC, I had the opportunity to build my network and make connections with some amazing people, grow and develop as a professional, and enhance my digital and data analytics skills.”

In addition to her academic accolades, Taliah is very active in extracurricular activities in the College of Business and at 91制片厂. She currently serves as a LU Ambassador, is president of both the College of Business Student Advisory Council to the Dean and Beta Alpha Psi and is a TSUS Regents’ Student Scholar. She aspires to have a future career as a CPA.

“I had the chance to explore the many career paths the firm has to offer and participate in a mentorship program,” she said. “I truly appreciate every opportunity I was exposed to and I'm already looking forward to going back next year as a Tax Intern.”
