The 91制片厂 Collegiate 100 chapter welcomed five new members on Tuesday, March 29 in a special induction ceremony held in the Setzer Student Center Live Oak Ballroom. The Collegiate 100 is a campus-based student organization with its programmatic initiatives that support the development of social, emotional and educational needs of youth who need positive role models in the in the communities in which they live.
The new members include:
Jasmine De La Rosa-Bonilla - English major, junior
Justin Bowman - civil engineering major, senior
Iyanna Goodall - physical education/teacher education with a minor in dance, senior
Bria Moneaux - biology major with a concentration in pre-dental, sophomore
Breanna Smith - psychology major, junior
“Each of the new students inducted are very talented and have a variety of skills that I believe will continue to elevate the C100 organization,” said Kathryn Washington ’91 who serves as faculty advisor for the organization. “Their backgrounds were very diverse, but they all had a strong interest in mentoring, getting involved on campus and giving back to the community.”
During the ceremony, current organization members Chidi Orakpo and Janeujua Ross also were awarded the Edwin E. Vallery Scholarship which was establishes in 2019 by LU alum Edwin E. Vallery ’79.
"Seeing the impact this scholarship has on students' lives during my lifetime is quite rewarding, so it was important to me to ensure the scholarship continues after my passing,” Vallery said.
The Edwin E. Vallery Scholarship awards full-time undergraduate students who are in good academic standing and also are active members of the Collegiate 100. Awardees also must be active in their community and have a high level or community service participation.
“It’s very exciting to see this organization grow and continue to give students opportunities to reach their potential,” Washington said. “It is very fulfilling to pay it forward and mentor the next generation of cardinals! Go LU! Go Big Red!”
