Dr. Coleman graduated from 91制片厂 in 1980 with a B.S. in Biology and obtained his doctorate from the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston. He has practiced general dentistry in Beaumont since 1983. He and his wife, Julie, have three adult sons and five beautiful granddaughters.
Dr. Coleman was an active student leader in his undergraduate years and was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. As an alumnus, he served over 20 years on the Alumni Association Board of Directors. Dr. Coleman was an adjunct faculty member at the LIT Dental Hygiene School and served on their Advisory Board. He and his wife are members of the President's Circle and have endowed two student scholarships, one in the Health Sciences and the other in the Fine Arts.
Dr. Coleman is a past president of the United Way and YMCA, and served on numerous community boards. He served four terms on the Beaumont City Council, where his passion was community health. Dr. Coleman became a national leader in the National League of Cities fight against childhood obesity. He received state and national awards for his efforts and was invited to the White House three times.
Dr. Coleman has founded two non-profit corporations. The Beaumont Healthy Living Foundation empowers families to lead happier and healthier lives by providing resources to make healthy choices. Southeast Texas Hands for God Ministry provides free dental care for the needy. He and his wife have traveled to Kenya and throughout Central America to serve. In 2017, he received the American Dental Association International Volunteer Service Award.
