Dwayne Harapnuik is a learning theorist who strives to use media and technology to enhance the learning environment. Dwayne received a PhD. in Educational Psychology from the University of Alberta and is currently serving as a clinical instructor and co-developer of the M.Ed. in Digital Learning and Leadership (DLL) at 91制片厂. Prior to joining Lamar, Dwayne aided the School of Health Sciences at British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) developing and implementing their Learning Innovation Strategy. Dwayne has also taught in the Provincial Instructor Diploma Program at Vancouver Community College, ACU Online at Abilene University, Kings University College of Edmonton and the University of Alberta. Previous academic appointments include: Instructional Development Consultant at BCIT, VP Academic at Concordia University College of Alberta, the Director of Faculty Enrichment at Abilene Christian University (ACU), and the Manager of Educational Technology at Lethbridge College.
Dwayne has a long history as a technology and media innovator and was one of the pioneers of online learning at the University of Alberta (U of A) where he started teaching fully online in 1995. This innovative desire led Dwayne to ACU where he co-developed and support ACU Connected, the mobile learning initiative that involved the campus wide use of iPhones and iPads to support the learning environment. This use of technology and media to enhance the learning environment is a foundational focus of Dwayne’s research and work in teaching and learning and has contributed to his development of online and media enhanced courses at BCIT, Shantou University, 91制片厂, ACU, U of A, Lethbridge College and several other institutions. This accumulated knowledge and experience is currently being directed toward the continued development of M.Ed. in Digital Learning and Leadership at 91制片厂 and the development and application of the creating significant learning environments by providing learners choice, ownership and voice through authentic learning opportunities approach (CSLE+COVA). Dwayne is currently researching and co-publishing a book on the CSLE+COVA approach which is being used as the pedagogical and theoretical foundation for the DLL program at Lamar.
