The Master of Engineering Science in the Civil Engineering concentration is a thesis option program that prepares students to independently develop solution in develop solution in solution in their selected engineering disciplines.
The student should select a department academic advisor and a graduate committee must be formed before the student has completed 15 semester hours of graduate work. No credit toward a graduate degree will be granted unless approved by the student’s graduate committee.
Admission Requirements
Admission standards are designed to ensure that all enrolled students are qualified professionals serving in a leadership role in their engineering discipline. The primary requirements are as follows:
- B.S. in Engineering (Transcripts required)
- A grade-point average (GPA) (or its equivalent) is greater than or equal to 3.0, from a four-year bachelor's degree or its equivalent.
- Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is optional and not required for the Master of Engineering programs
- Students with a GPA of less 3.0 and greater than or equal to 2.70, can be accepted to the program with the following GRE scores
- Verbal + Quantitative>=285 and Quantitative>=155
- If English is your second language, check the latest University policy regarding the TOEFL/IELTS requirements
*We recommend taking the GRE so we have more information to base acceptance on, especially for those students who do not have a high GPA or have not graduated from an ABET-accredited program.*
Degree Requirements
- All College of Graduate Studies general degree requirements
- Completion of a minimum of 24 semester hours of coursework
- Maximum 9 semester hours from other departments’ engineering, science, or business disciplines may be considered for approval by department graduate advisor.
- Completion of a minimum of 15 semester hours from Civil and Environmental Engineering graduate classes
- Satisfactory completion and defense of a Master's thesis (a minimum of 6 semester hours of ENGR 5390 Thesis and ENGR 5391 Thesis)
- Students who do not have a degree in civil engineering may be required to take additional leveling courses
*Up to 6 credit hours of graduate-level coursework (5000 level) taken as part of B.S. civil engineering programs at 91制片厂 can be counted toward the 30-hour degree requirement. These courses shall receive prior approval by the department chair or his/her designee. (4+1 program).
