Venkatesh Uddameri, Ph.D.
Professor and Chair
I was born and raised in Hyderabad India a semi-arid region with extreme water scarcity. I was therefore interested in studying water resources. A dug well in my house dried up when I was in my 5th grade because the neighbor installed a deeper well. This spurred an interest in studying groundwater resources.
While my major research focus has been in groundwater hydrology, I have used my modeling background to work in many related disciplines. In addition, I have a strong interest in sensors and their applications in civil engineering.
In my spare time, I like to read non-fiction, watch legal thrillers and play with my cat – Dofy. Dofy is old Norwegian for Lazy, but she is far from it.
